By launching the new R 1200 GS, BMW Motorrad continues the long tradition of producing motorcycles roadster and proudly presents a worthy successor the hugely successful R 1150 R.

With the most advanced technologies, set new standards in the roadster class, highlighting once again BMW’s claims to precedence in terms of safety.

Based on sales statistics, the totals from 2001 until today 60,000 units R 850 R and R1150 R is the obvious existence of a significant demand for motorcycles with the a classic design that combines individual character with timeless elegance. It is also clear in the case of roadster its full qualities have contributed to the success in the market for this type of motorcycle, and these qualities will be emphasized more strongly in the future by R 1200 GS. Indeed, this new roadster will general tendency to optimize the dynamics, but without neglecting the strengths of the basic concepts, putting together a significantly higher level agility and excellent features of a touring motor complete.

The weight of the new BMW R 1200 GS is therefore of only 198 kg. Equipped for the road and with a full tank the new engine remains at a low weight of just 223 kg, far below the level other four-cylinder models in this market segment.

In the premiere for the new model was adopted the next generation of BMW Motorrad ABS integrated system, which can be optionally joined ASC slip system. As an additional safety measure, is currently working on an installation TPC (Tire Pressure Control) warning in situations of low tire pressure, including at run time.

Power plant is built upon shaft balancing two cylinder presented first on the BMW R 1200 GS and corresponds to the current version already held on the BMW R 1200 RT. Compared with the R 1150 R, the new Roadster offers 28% more power at higher speed regime and approximately 17% more torque. Meanwhile, the engine is 7% lighter than its predecessor, being more dynamic and sophisticated, minimizing the vibration.

A pilot who takes with him various amounts of luggage, thus subjecting the its engine on different loading conditions, so the owner of an R 1200 GS will be delighted with ESA electronic suspension system (optional) that will allow you to adjust the reload spring electronic and amortization, just by pressing a button, changing settings using an existing electrical motor.
